Butler split a pair of games Friday in Chapel Hill, N.C., kicking off a four-game weekend at the University of North Carolina's home event. The Bulldogs defeated Fairfield, 5-2, in the afternoon, before falling to the host Tar Heels, 2-1, in the final game of the day.
With the decisions, Butler is now 4-7 on the young season.
Fairfield took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third before Butler pushed across two runs in both the fourth and fifth innings.
In the fourth, Kaitlin Doud homered to left field to tie the game at two.
