Butler's scoring trio needs help

Basketball is a five-man game, but there are times three are quite enough. It was for the Bird/Parrish/McHale Celtics and the Magic/Abdul-Jabbar/Worthy Lakers.

By necessity, rather than by design, the Butler Bulldogs are trying to win with three scorers. In Big East games, Kelan Martin (17.4), Kellen Dunham (17.2) and Roosevelt Jones (15.7) represent the highest-scoring trio (50.3) in the conference.

Yet the Bulldogs need more. They almost certainly will in Saturday’s game in New York against a last-place St. John’s team that is rapidly improving.

The Red Storm have lost 13 in a row – the longest streak in the school’s 109-year basketball history – but are coming off Wednesday’s 90-83 loss at No.
