Butler's Kelan Martin aims to make Pacers with patience and '3-and-D' skills

INDIANAPOLIS – In a fast-paced league featuring a what-have-you-done-lately culture, patience is in short supply. Kelan Martin has underscored the virtue of patience, plus something the NBA values more: 3-point shooting.

The 26-year-old out of Butler knows he is in a fight to make the Indiana Pacers’ roster. The Pacers know what he can do, even if it took them months to discover it.

Through last March, you might not have known Martin was on the roster. After 46 games, he appeared in 11, and for a total of 53 minutes. He once played nearly that many minutes in a single college game, scoring 34 points in an overtime loss to Xavier.
