When he failed to live up to the billing last year — averaging less than 9.7 points on 35.8 percent field goal shooting — Bulldog fans made excuses.

He’s adjusting. Or: He’s coming off the bench. Or: He’s not playing his natural position.

A common conclusion was formed: Wait ‘til next year.
