Butler's early run, lockdown defense puts Dawgs in Hall of Fame title game

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Butler’s basketball victory was a combination of boxing and wrestling: Knock opponent to floor early, then accumulate riding time.

The Bulldogs stunned Missouri with an early 15-0 run, then dug down on defense for a 63-52 victory Monday night in the Hall of Fame Classic at the Sprint Center.

The outcome ended a streak of six consecutive losses away from Hinkle Fieldhouse and put Butler in an in-season championship game for the 10th time since 2001.

Butler (6-0) will play for the championship at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. The second semifinal pitted Oklahoma (5-0) against Stanford (6-0).
