Butler tops Purdue in Crossroads Classic behind stout defensive effort

INDIANAPOLIS – This is not Hinkle Fieldhouse. But the Butler feels right at home in their other home: Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

They made their last 11 free throws over the closing 2 ½ minutes, held Purdue to 33% shooting and beat the Boilermakers for the fourth time in five Crossroads Classic meetings, 70-61, on Saturday.

Bryce Golden scored 14 points for Butler, Aaron Thompson and Jordan Tucker 12 each, and Sean McDermott 11.

Thompson also had five rebounds and six assists.

Season leader Kamar Baldwin was held to five points, 11 under his average, and has totaled five points over two games.
