Butler starts Big East play 0-2 after loss to Xavier

CINCINNATI – The Butler Bulldogs found themselves in an unusual and unwanted position after Saturday’s game against Xavier. Although they are the ninth-ranked team in the country, they are also at the bottom of the Big East conference standings after two games.

The Bulldogs fell to the Musketeers 88-69 in a game that was never close in the second half.

The vociferous crowd inside the Cintas Center cheered the loudest when the Musketeers scored in the paint and when the referees called a foul on the Bulldogs. Both occurred several times as Xavier’s strength was too much for Butler.
