Butler looks to continue success vs. Big Ten

INDIANAPOLIS – Past isn’t always prologue. But how the Butler Bulldogs have performed against the Big Ten in the 2000s was a portent that they could successfully transition to the Big East.

Butler will participate for the first time in the second annual Gavitt Tipoff Games, meeting Northwestern on Wednesday at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs were not in the Big Ten/Big East series last year because they were scheduled to travel to Puerto Rico.

“I think it’s a great idea to do it,” Butler coach Chris Holtmann said. “I think the Big East has as much to gain, if not more, than the Big Ten.
