NEW YORK – Seven is supposed to be a lucky number. Not for the Butler Bulldogs, though.
For the second successive game, they gave up a lead in the closing 7 minutes. And they still have never won a game in Big East basketball tournament, losing to the No. 7 seed.
Trevon Bluiett sank the go-ahead basket with 17 seconds left, and Xavier beat No. 2 seed Butler 62-57 Thursday night in a quarterfinal of the conference tournament.
Bluiett, a Park Tudor graduate once recruited by Butler, scored 17 of his 23 points in the second half for the Musketeers (21-12).
