Butler blows out UC Irvine, runs unbeaten streak at home in non-conference games to 50

INDIANAPOLIS – It has been a productive seven days of basketball for the Butler Bulldogs heading into holiday break.

They led Indiana by 11 before a buzzer-beating defeat. They overcame a 14-point deficit to beat Presbyterian. And on Friday night, they built a 24-point halftime lead against one of the nation’s sternest defensive teams and defeated UC Irvine, 71-54, at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Paul Jorgensen, who had totaled nine points in his previous two games, shot 5-of-7 on 3-pointers and led Butler (9-3) with 19 points and seven rebounds.

Mid-year transfer Jordan Tucker continued to show how much of a difference he could make, scoring 13 of his 14 points in the first half.
