Butler basketball rides huge second half to blast St. John's

INDIANAPOLIS – For Butler, senior night was everything you would want it to be.

One senior, Sean McDermott, had 16 points and 14 rebounds for the third double-double of his career. Kamar Baldwin, Henry Baddley and Derrik Smits each had a moment. Coach LaVall Jordan called timeout twice so the seniors could exit to an ovation.

And the Bulldogs had a 46-point second half, building a 24-point lead. They climbed into fifth place in the Big East by beating St. John’s 77-55 Wednesday before a crowd of 8,675 at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

After a 3-5 February, the Bulldogs start March 1-0.
