INDIANAPOLIS – The late Joel Cornette and five other former Butler athletes have been selected to the university’s athletics Hall of Fame. Induction ceremony will be Sept. 15.
The 2017 class will bring membership to 207 individuals and 11 teams.
Cornette died last Aug. 16 at age 35. He helped the Bulldogs to three NCAA tournament appearances in basketball and their first tourney victory (in 2001) in 39 years. He was co-MVP of the 2003 team that won the Horizon League regular season, finished 27-6 and reached the NCAA Sweet 16. He scored more than 1,000 points and was chosen to the league all-defensive team three times.
