As Butler waits, player with COVID-19 has 'nothing severe' in symptoms

INDIANAPOLIS – A Butler basketball player who tested positive for COVID-19 is experiencing “nothing severe” in symptoms, coach LaVall Jordan said Wednesday.

The unidentified player is in quarantine, as are other Bulldog players, coaches and close support staff. The team went on pause hours after the Nov. 25 season opener in which they beat Western Michigan 66-62 at Hinkle fieldhouse.

Butler called off three games — Eastern Illinois, Northern Kentucky, Kansas State – that will be difficult to reschedule. Those in Butler’s program continue to go through regular testing, Jordan said.

New guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released Wednesday recommend quarantine for seven to 10 days after exposure, down from 14 days.
