3 reasons Butler basketball lost to St. John's: Red Storm exploit mismatch, win at the line

INDIANAPOLIS – St. John’s outscored Butler 21-4 on free throws, overcoming a nine-point deficit in the second half to beat the Bulldogs 75-72 Saturday in Big East basketball at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Butler’s Chuck Harris air-balled a rushed 3-pointer before the buzzer that would have tied the score.

St. John’s (13-9, 5-6) ended a seven-game losing streak at Hinkle. The Red Storm had not won here since 2014, the first year Butler played in the Big East.
