Free-scoring frontman Chris Wood believes the Clarets are in ideal shape to start the Premier League season.
The Clarets’ fourth successive top-flight campaign gets under way against Southampton at Turf Moor on Saturday.
And following a positive pre-season programme – which has seen the Kiwi striker score nine times – Wood is in upbeat mood.
“The whole team has the confidence. We have been playing good football and working hard,” he said.

“We feel we are fitter than ever, which is a big thing in the Premier League. This season we have been able to have a full six weeks of hard training ready for the first game and I think we are reaping the benefits.
