'These situations didn't need to occur': Sean Dyche says he warned Burnley's board about out-of-contract players 18 months ago as manager admits he is unsure whether Jeff Hendrick and Co will play against Manchester City

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has called on the Burnley board to learn from their errors after they ignored his long-standing warning about how to handle contracts.

The deals of Jeff Hendrick, Phil Bardsley, Joe Hart and Aaron Lennon expire this month and Dyche doesn't know if any of them will play at Manchester City on Monday because they want guarantees about the future. Clubs have until Tuesday to arrange short-term extensions.

Dyche said: 'I can't give them any assurances on that because I've not been given that guidance myself.'
