Steve Stone backed the input of senior men Nick Pope and Kevin Long after they helped the Under-23s get back to winning ways.
The pair both had a run-out as over-age players as the Clarets beat Watford 2-0 to go back to second place in the Professional Development League’s northern section.
And Stone – speaking from his experience making the break-through at Nottingham Forest – says their know-how is vital in helping the development of his young players.
“It ticks a box for them and for the manager. They play their part and they can add something,” said the Clarets’ Under-23s’ boss and former England international.
