Southampton 3-1 Fulham: Saints take back-to-back wins for the first time since December after goals by Che Adams, Nathan Tella and Theo Walcott sink Scott Parker's already relegated Fulham side

By this point, logic dictates that only crumbs of comfort remain on offer to sides such as Southampton.

Fates sealed for next season, only formalities persist. But try telling Ralph Hasenhuttl and his players that they have nothing to play for. Before this win, which threatened to be more nervy than necessary, Saints had earned fewer points (14) and conceded more goals (43) than any other top-flight side in 2021.

With this, Hasenhuttl’s side head into the home straight with back-to-back wins and something to build on.

Southampton secured back-to-back wins in the league for the first time since December
Che Adams opened the scoring who tucked home from a James Ward-Prowse free-kick
Nathan Tella doubled the lead after 60 minutes as the 21-year-old scored his first senior goal
Fabio Carvalho also scored his first senior goal to give Fulham a sniff of a chance to come back
Theo Walcott came off the bench though to score an 82nd minute goal to seal the win

For the likes of James Ward-Prowse and Nathan Tella, meanwhile, this could prove an important few days.
