Ashley Williams quickly realised Ross Barkley did not need a sympathetic ear after he was assaulted in a bar.
Williams revealed Barkley, who orchestrated Everton's victory on Saturday, had shrugged off the incident before arriving at training last week. He said: 'There's not been an issue with Ross. He trained every day and you wouldn't know that anything had gone on.
'Ross responded well. He's been in great form and I didn't have any doubt he would continue that. I'm sure he knows how much he's valued at Everton.'
Barkley, 23, saluted the fans after his shot deflected off Ben Mee and crept past Tom Heaton for Everton's second goal.
