Mee Delighted With Winning Start

Ben Mee hailed the ideal opening day as he made a winning start as the Clarets’ new club captain.

Mee has taken over the armband on a permanent basis following the departure of Tom Heaton to Aston Villa.

And the skipper kicked off his reign in style as a clean sheet and three-second half goals combined to give Burnley their biggest opening day win since 1966.

“It was a good day and it’s a good start,” said Mee.

“It was a good performance in the second half. It was close in the first half and I think it was who dealt with the conditions better and we came out on top and the boys did well.
