Jack Cork's family were holidaying 3,500 miles away when he made his England bow against Germany, after he advised them he was not expecting a debut appearance.

The Burnley midfielder was a late call-up to Gareth Southgate's squad after a host of regulars withdrew through injury and was handed his first cap in the closing minutes of Friday's encouraging 0-0 draw against the world champions.

He had been planning to spend the international break in Dubai and, although he was happy to cancel, wife Freya made the trip alongside children Arlo and Eden and Cork's mother.
