'I'm ashamed. These people need to come into the 21st century... they don't represent what we're about': Emotional Ben Mee slams Burnley fans who flew 'white lives matter' banner over Etihad as players took the knee in support of Black Lives Matter

Burnley captain Ben Mee has condemned the fans that flew a banner reading 'white lives matter' over the Etihad Stadium ahead of their game against Manchester City – claiming he is 'ashamed and embarrassed' by it.

A plane trailing a message reading ‘white lives matter Burnley’ was visible as players took the knee before Manchester City beat Sean Dyche’s side.

The aircraft circled the stadium for several minutes, with players seen shaking their heads in disgust. A man based in Lancashire hosted a live broadcast of the fly-over from outside the Etihad Stadium on his Facebook account.
