IAN LADYMAN: Sean Dyche should have quit while he was ahead... Burnley lost momentum years ago and while he has admirers in the game, it remains to be seen what damage is done to his reputation as relegation looms

An abiding memory of watching Sean Dyche's Burnley is of two days spent in the summer sunshine in Aberdeen in August 2018. The world had not yet heard of Covid-19, England had not long since reached the semi-final of a World Cup and Burnley were about to play European football for the first time in 51 years.

As it turned out, Burnley's plane struggled to take off as they prepared to fly to Scotland and it served as a metaphor for their Europa League campaign.

They struggled past Aberdeen in extra time at Turf Moor, did the same against Turkish team Basaksehir in the next round and then lost to Olympiacos.
