The Clarets goalkeeper, who kept a clean sheet against West Ham in late December on his return to the starting line-up, has since played his part in an unbeaten start to the calendar year, making 15 saves.
Wins at Huddersfield and at home to Fulham were followed by a clean sheet in the stalemate at Watford and a stunning individual display in the team’s hard-fought 2-2 draw at Manchester United in midweek.
The Burnley captain has five rivals in the public vote for the award, which is now open: Josh King of Bournemouth, Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette, Manchester United duo Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rashford and Southampton’s James ward-Prowse.
