James Tarkowski's second-half header ensured that the Sean Dyche era at Everton got off to a winning start, with his former player heading home to make it 1-0 at Goodison Park.
Everton began the game at a thrilling pace, and worked hard to get high up the pitch and stop the visitors from getting into their rhythm, creating several good chances for Dominic Calvert-Lewin in particular in the first half.
And the second period continued in much the same vein, with the hosts utilising the crowd in their attempt to unnerve the league leaders and continue the pressure.
