Michael Keane has revealed he was so surprised about his England call-up that he thought he was in trouble after receiving several missed calls from Gareth Southgate.
The Burnley defender was at his local gym when Three Lions caretaker boss Southgate tried to contact him regarding a place in his squad following an injury to Glen Johnson.
After returning to the gym's changing room following a swim, Keane saw several missed calls from Southgate before eventually speaking to the new England boss.
Keane, speaking to FA TV, said of his call-up: 'I was in the pool at the gym by my house, I got in the changing room and I had a few missed calls from the gaffer.
