Danny Drinkwater is in line for a Burnley debut in the Carabao Cup next week.
The on-loan midfield man won’t be part of the Clarets’ squad for Sunday’s Premier League trip to Wolves as he builds up his fitness.
But after a 45-minute run-out as an over-age player for the Under-23s on Monday and a full training-ground game in mid-week, he will come into manager Sean Dyche’s thinking for Wednesday’s second-round cup tie against Sunderland at Turf Moor.
“Danny has taken another big step towards real fitness by getting 90 minutes under his belt,” said the Burnley boss.
