Peter Crouch was delighted to make his mark as a Burnley player after helping the Clarets come from behind to earn a precious point.
And the new signing is looking forward to building on his flying start by further aiding Burnley’s bid to preserve their Premier League status.
The Clarets were staring at a first league defeat since Boxing Day after being controversially denied a penalty when Ashley Barnes was floored by Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and Alex Redmond fired the visitors ahead at Turf Moor on Saturday.

But Crouch came off the bench to help spark a late Burnley fightback, his stoppage-time header hitting the raised arm of Saints’ defender Jack Stephens and allowing Barnes to calmly slot home the Clarets’ first penalty in 68 Premier League games to secure a 1-1 draw and make it six games without defeat.
