Burnley's pre-season friendly at home to German outfit Hannover was abandoned after crowd trouble erupted on the terraces at Turf Moor.
The encounter descended into chaos after fans of the Bundesliga club clashed with Lancashire Police inside the stadium.
Missiles were thrown by the travelling supporters, with several arrests made amid ugly scenes for the Clarets' final pre-season friendly ahead of the new Premier League season.
