Burnley 'fear Belgium will move for Vincent Kompany as their next boss' after Roberto Martinez quit following shock group stage exit at the World Cup - just six months after he took charge at the Championship leaders

Championship club Burnley are reportedly fearful of an approach from the Belgium FA for boss Vincent Kompany.

Kompany, 36, joined Burnley this summer following their relegation and has led them to the top of the Championship table - while also revolutionising their style of play away from the attritional football seen under Sean Dyche.

Belgium were knocked out of the World Cup at the group phase, bringing the curtain down on Roberto Martinez's time in charge of the side. The Spaniard announced the Croatia game would be his last in a tearful address at the post-match press conference.
