Bayern Munich hijacked Tottenham’s £25million swoop for Genoa defender Radu Dragusin on Tuesday night.
Spurs are close to agreeing a deal for the centre-back after tabling a formal offer - but the Bundesliga side has now followed suit.
It is now up to Dragusin to decide which club he wants to join.
Tottenham have offered out of favour defender Djed Spence, who returned from a loan spell at Leeds last week, to Genoa as a sweetener in their proposed deal.
Bayern’s bid is believed to be a straight cash offer.
