'Wanted it easy:' Lindy Ruff blasts Buffalo Sabres after Calgary Flames loss

The Buffalo Sabres' effort in the third period of Wednesday night's 6-2 loss to the lowly Calgary Flames is why it's hard to believe this roster can break the team's 14-year playoff drought. The complete level goes missing far too often.

Calgary scored four unanswered goals in the final frame to pull away from a Buffalo squad that looked like it may be turning a corner after winning its previous two games. Instead, the Blue and Gold laid an egg against the team sitting at the bottom of the NHL standings.

"We had the opportunity in that first 10 minutes really to just try to outwork the other team; we got outworked, it's as simple as that," head coach Lindy Ruff told reporters.
