Senators rule Sabres’ house

Robin Lehner was looking forward to seeing some of his longtime friends. In a span of just 3:26, he was ready to send them home to Ottawa.

The Senators scored three quick goals midway through the second period Wednesday, ruining the preseason home opener for the Sabres and their new goaltender. Buffalo dropped a 5-2 decision in First Niagara Center to fall to 1-1 during the exhibitions.

The teams were in preseason form with a scoreless first period, but Ottawa took advantage of several Buffalo mistakes to take control. Lehner, acquired from the Senators at the NHL Draft, had little chance on any of the goals.
