Tyler Ennis feels bad because he knows the rule. It’s one of the first ones he learned as little kid playing hockey in Edmonton. Skaters can’t go offside.
Yet twice in one week, officials have watched replays, seen that Ennis was offside and taken away Sabres goals.
“This time it cost us the game, so it’s frustrating,” Ennis said Tuesday after a 3-1 loss to Dallas. “I’ve got to stay onside.”
Ennis’ latest run-in with one of the sport’s oldest rules and newest amendments came with 6:07 to go. He passed the puck into the Stars’ zone while approaching the blue line.
