Sam Reinhart lost his way during the Sabres’ preseason. He can’t explain it. He just knows that the guy on the ice in the No. 23 jersey wasn’t playing his best.
Reinhart says he felt like himself again during Buffalo’s last exhibition game. He’ll soon find out if that’s enough to earn him a spot in the lineup.
The Sabres open the 2015-16 season Thursday against Ottawa, and they’re slated to head into the first game with one extra forward.
“There’s 13 guys out there that easily could play in our opening-day roster, and we’ll have a decision to make on that,” coach Dan Bylsma said Sunday.
