The Sabres have been one of the best teams in the NHL on the road this season, but tonight, they needed their goaltender’s best effort of the year just to keep them in it until they could find their legs in the third period, and come from behind to beat the Ottawa Senators 2-1.
As improved as the team’s overall effort has been this year, the Sabres struggled hard to get things going out of the gate tonight.
If you look at the basic scoresheet, it doesn’t look too bad, but Buffalo had very few high-danger scoring chances and couldn’t sustain any kind of pressure in the Ottawa zone for the first two periods.
