After kicking off their season with a pair of wins, the Rochester Americans dropped a pair of games this weekend to the St. John’s IceCaps, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens. The IceCaps are the Habs’ new affiliate after the Hamilton Bulldogs AHL team moved out and the former Belleville Bulls moved into Hamilton.
The Rochester Americans made their first trip to Newfoundland in over a decade, but fell by scores of 5-2 and 6-2, respectively.
On Friday, the IceCaps were led by two-goal performances from both Sven Andrighetto and Christian Thomas.
Bud Holloway also scored for the IceCaps.
