Robin Lehner Undergoes Season-Ending Ankle Surgery

Starting goaltender Robin Lehner has been ruled out of the Buffalo Sabres final five games of the season following successful surgery to repair his right ankle, the team announced Wednesday.

Lehner has missed the Sabres last five games. He stopped 19 of 22 shots in his last start--a 3-2 overtime loss to the Montreal Canadiens on March 16. Lehner had a 5-9-5 record, 2.47 goals-against average and .924 save percentage in 21 starts in his first season in Buffalo.

The surgery ends another injury-riddled year for the Swedish netminder.
