The night got off to a good start for the Sabres as the jumped out to an early lead. Penguins defenseman Marcus Pettersson put a pass on the stick of Jack Eichel above the face off circle.
Eichel made no mistake and snapped a shot by Matt Murray to make it 1-0 less than four minutes into the game.
In typical Sabres fashion, they gave up the lead about a minute later. Nick Bjugstad wristed a nice shot over the shoulder of Linus Ullmark.
