NASHVILLE – Ryan O'Reilly was at center ice for the opening faceoff of his first NHL All-Star Game and had a strong showing even though his team didn't come out on top at the 3-on-3 tournament.
O'Reilly – representing the Buffalo Sabres – and the Atlantic Division All-Stars defeated the Metropolitan Division All-Stars 5-4 in the semifinal round, but fell to the Pacific Division All-Stars 1-0 in the championship game at Bridgestone Arena.
