Rasmus Ristolainen is definitely the kind of guy who’d rather let his play do the talking. So when he saw the pack of cameras and microphones heading his way Saturday, he sighed and braced for an unwanted onslaught.
His Sabres teammates showed no sympathy.
“You brought it on yourself,” one shouted.
“That’s what you get for scoring two goals,” said another.
Indeed, after a two-goal outing that included the winner with 16.8 seconds left, there was no way Ristolainen could hide from the spotlight in First Niagara Center. He did his best to shy away from it, quietly releasing one-sentence answers that undersold his importance to the 3-2 win over Ryan Miller and the Vancouver Canucks.
