The Buffalo Sabres announced this morning that forward Nick Baptiste has been assigned to the Rochester Amerks of the AHL. Baptiste was one of a few players remaining who were battling for one of the final roster spots in the bottom six.
The former third-round pick had an outside shot of making the roster entering training camp, but didn’t do enough to make an impression on the new coaching staff. The future is still bright for Baptiste, however. After a strong season in the minors last year, he’ll have the opportunity to get a shot with the Sabres if he starts off hot.
