The NHL Playoffs Round One is over, and surprise surprise, three of the heavily-tipped Western Conference perennial contenders are enjoying golf vacations - the Los Angeles Kings, Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks are all out. Joining them from the East are the Florida Panthers, who had a great opportunity to supplement their meager ticket sales by going far in the playoffs, but it won't be this year.
The New York Islanders, who knocked out the aforementioned Panthers, started off last night with another upset at another Florida team, beating the Tampa Bay Lightning handily.
