This June, the Buffalo Sabres will select eighth-overall in the 2016 NHL Draft, being held at First Niagara Center in Buffalo, NY.
This will be just the second time in NHL history that the Buffalo Sabres hold the eighth-overall selection in the NHL Draft.
The first time? Three years ago, in 2013, when the Buffalo Sabres chose defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen with the eighth-overall selection.
In this first of a series of posts highlighting some previous eighth-overall selections, and assessing their value at draft time compared to how they turned out in the NHL, we’ll look at Ristolainen, a player that Sabres fans (obviously) know quite well.
