McCabe set to make his case to stay in Buffalo

Opportunity seemed to be available on the Buffalo Sabres’ blue line until the free-agent signing of Cody Franson earlier this month. It may not be there as much now but second-year pro Jake McCabe is still ready to make his case starting this weekend.

McCabe drew high praise from new coach Dan Bylsma and was one of the standouts of the team’s development camp scrimmage in July. He was again solid in Monday’s overtime win over Boston that wrapped up Buffalo’s inaugural Prospects Challenge.

The Sabres hit the ice for their main camp starting Friday morning in First Niagara Center and McCabe, 21, hopes to continue to get noticed.
