The Buffalo Sabres resumed their 2016-17 season following the bye week on the wrong foot, surrendering three goals to the Colorado Avalanche in the first period.
Things got a bit better as the evening went, with Rasmus Ristolainen, Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart combining to score a power play goal in just six seconds . . . but the highlight to me was seeing Evan Rodrigues, who spent the bye week playing for the Rochester Americans, scoring his first goal of the 2016-17 season.
Credit Tyler Ennis on the set up, but that release from Rodrigues – wow!
