Buffalo Sabres Trade Mike Weber To Capitals

The Buffalo Sabres completed their first trade ahead of the February 29th NHL trade deadline on Tuesday evening, sending defenseman Mike Weber to the Washington Capitals.

In exchange, the Buffalo Sabres received a third-round draft pick in 2017, a respectable for the veteran defenseman.

The Sabres also retained part of Weber’s salary.

He’s set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

The 28-year-old was the longest-tenured player on the Buffalo Sabres, having been drafted by the NHL club with the 57th overall selection in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
