On Thursday, Dec. 17, the Buffalo Sabres took to the home ice at the First Niagara Center against the Anaheim Ducks from the Western Conference. Just two days after being shut out by the New Jersey Devils, the Sabres walked away with a shutout of their very own.
The goaltending battle saw Buffalo Sabres’ Chad Johnson face Ducks netminder John Gibson.
The first period was once again filled with close goals, ricocheting off of the goal post and bouncing between players. Passes were sliding every which way during the first 20 minutes.
Neither team could keep the puck long enough to set up efficiently before the puck was either knocked away or called off-sides.
