Buffalo Sabres forward Ryan O’Reilly has been named to represent the team at the NHL’s All-Star Weekend later this month in Nashville, Tennessee.
O’Reilly currently leads the Buffalo Sabres with 34 points in 40 games, including a team-high 16 goals.
O’Reilly’s 18 assists are second-most on the team, behind only defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen.
Both Ristolainen and rookie center Jack Eichel were also reportedly considered for the event.
This year, the NHL’s All-Star Game has a different format.
Rather than two teams separated by conference, this year’s game is actually a tournament, with one team for each division.
