The Buffalo Sabres were back on the ice for the first time this season as part of the Prospect Challenge in a game against the New Jersey Devils. This isn't the full team but it is a great opportunity for the younger players to make an impact and impress the coaching staff.
One of those players who wasted no time was defenseman Radim Mrtka, who the Sabres drafted with the ninth overall pick in the NHL Draft this past June. He would score the first goal of the tournament with a one-timer from the top of the face-off circle for the Sabres with an assist by Noah Ostlund.
